Commissioning Programs
There are four paths to earn a Marine commission:
- The Platoon Leaders Class (PLC) for current college freshmen through juniors
- Officer Candidates Course (OCC) for current college seniors and college graduates
- The Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC)
- The United States Naval Academy (USNA)
For the vast majority of Marine Officers, the journey begins at an Officer Selection Office. There, members of the Officer Selection Team will work with motivated college students and graduates who would like to pursue a commission via the Platoon Leaders Class and the Officer Candidates Course. These are the names of the programs, and Officer Candidate School is the place where you go to earn your commission.
